“Quantifing the Sun” JRC Directorate C – ESTI leads the European “Comparisons of broadband-, spectral-radiometers “
For the 10th consecutive year, the JRC Directorate C “ESTI” is organizing the comparison of broadband and spectro-radiometers. It is hosted on the premises of ENEL Green Power, l’Innovation HUB & Lab in Catania (CT) Italy. The inter-comparison will take place from the 22th to the 26th of June 2020.
The main goal of the inter-comparison is the harmonization of instruments within the PV community but also for atmospheric and metrological institutions, especially in relation to the need for traceable spectral irradiance measurements. Not only spectro-radiometers of the various participants will be compared to the JRC reference, but also thermopile instruments (pyrheliometers and pyranometers) will be verified against the JRC Directorate C “ESTI’s” references (Absolute cavity radiometers directly traceable to WRR- PMOD, Switzerland). At last year’s event 15 institutions (20 researchers) from all over Europe, the United States of America and Singapore attended the 9th ISRC at the Saint-Véran Observatory, Hautes Alpes, France at an altitude of 2936 m ASL.
